Post 1597 Officer - Army

James W. Bucci, Sr.              August 25, 1931 - May 17, 2020 

James was a lifelong resident of Penndel, PA. James was the husband of the late Kathleen (Devlin) Bucci. He married the love of his life while he was enlisted in May 1953 and stayed together for 58 years until her death in 2011. James was the loving father of 7 children: James, Katrina, Lawrence, Brian, Vincent, Anita and Thomas.  James worked tirelessly throughout his life to support his family. He was a retired bricklayer from US Steel in Fairless Hills. He worked 24 years at this plant until its closing in 1996. He worked twice as long making surveying monuments, keystones and other concrete products in his backyard. He finally stopped working just before turning 80.

Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies. He enjoyed the countless times spent at his hunting camp in Tioga County. He was a member of Leary’s Fishing Club in Croydon.  

James was an US Army veteran of the Korean War. PFC Bucci served in Company B of the 11th Engineering Battalion (Korea). He was awarded the following decorations: National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star and a Meritorious Unit Citation.

James was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1597 in Croydon, where he served as a Post Officer and  on many Post committees. Post 1597 honored him in 2014 as their Grand Marshall for the annual Memorial Day parade for his many years of service at the Post.
